President Uhuru Kenyatta will be in Kisumu next week to lead the country in the Madaraka Day celebration. The president is also expected to launch government development projects in Nyanza.
To prepare ground for Uhuru’s reception, Former Prime Minister and Kisumu county Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o visited the county and addressed the resident. He asked the residents to warmly welcome the president.
In Kisumu, the president is expected to launch sh3 billion refurbished Kisumu Port, the new railway station and shipyard built by Kenya navy. The head of state is also expected to commission Ahero interchange road and launch the sh350 million Uhuru business park.
He will also launch the construction of Mamboleo – Muhoruni road. Jomo Kenyatta sports ground at Mamboleo will also be launched by President Uhuru.
In his five days tour in Nyanza the president is expected to commission various infrastructure developments in Kisumu, Siaya and Homa bay.
After his Kisumu tour the president will visit Siaya County before visiting Homa Bay County. In Homa Bay county the president is expected launch Mbita causeway and commission construction of 74km Mbita – Sindo – Magunga road.
Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero told leaders from Nyanza to seize the opportunity and present a robust economic agenda on behalf of Nyanza residents.
Muhoroni MP Onyango Koyoo said that they expect the president to address plight of sugar mills and to tackle the delay of multibillion shilling Koru- Soin Dam to help control perennial flooding in Muhoroni, Nyando and Nyakach.
