On Sunday, a helicopter crashed moments after dropping off ODM leader Raila Odinga in Gem, Siaya County.
A video has now surfed online showing how the ill-fated chopper hit the ground with a force causing it to damage the tail rotor and the main rotor.
According to the clip, the helicopter crashed after take-off when it was only a few meters high above the ground.
Raila safe after helicopter crash

It is seen to lose its stability hitting the ground with a thud. Nearby residents are heard shouting running towards the helicopter to catch a glimpse of the ill-fated helicopter and perhaps to save those inside it.
Raila’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango confirmed the incidents assuring Kenyans that the former Prime Minister is safe and sound.
Raila had accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta on the official commissioning of the Wagai Akala Road.
“The Helicopter, Bell 407, Registration 5Y-PSM had dropped Odinga at Kudho Primary School in Gem when it attempted to lift off to create space for other planes. Unfortunately, it crashed,” Onyango said in a statement.

“There were no fatalities as the pilot and four others who on board escaped with minor injuries. Odinga successfully proceeded with his scheduled activities with the President.”
It crashed when it was only 5 meters from the ground when it crashed and landed on its side.
The captain was not injured while his only passenger Peter Mbeka has raised complaints of chesty pains but he is in stable condition awaiting to be taken to the hospital.
According to the police report, Raila was not on board when it crashed but it suffered some huge damages. It crashed around 4.30 pm.
The scene of the crash has also been secured as Raila’s team waits for a report from air aviation investigations.
President Uhuru is currently in the Nyanza region in preparation for the Madaraka Celebrations. He landed on Sunday afternoon and has had a beehive of activities accompanied by Raila.
