Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe has stirred a storm within the political circles after confessing that he was the brains behind the removal of key DP William Ruto’s allies from government.
While appearing on NTV on Wednesday night, Murathe said that he has successfully completed his mission and it is, therefore, time to get a well-deserved break from the party leadership.
His role according to his sentiments was to kick out Ruto’s political friends who refused to be in line with Jubilee Party rules.
He, however, says he has one major role remaining and that is to kick out DP Ruto from the Mt Kenya region.
“Our job was to push those who do not believe in the dream of the party out. I am happy they have found a house called UDA. Our work is done.,” he said.
Murathe has said after finishing his mission, it is time for the Jubilee Party to open windows for fresh recruitment of the party’s leadership.
He, however, says he is not interested in holding any role in the party going forward.
“We are all in an interim capacity and soon we will be releasing a timetable on how we will start campaigns for the party positions from the ward level to the national level. Myself, I am not interested in any position moving forward,” he said.
Jubilee Party has been running on worn-out tires recently this follows a series of defeats in Juja, Bonchari, and Rurii ward by-elections. The losses have been blamed on Murathe and Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju who are said to be misleading President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Recently, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru admitted that the party needs to be rebranded ahead of 2022 due to the changing political dynamics.
“The rains have beaten us. Our fortunes are dwindling. Intense introspection is demanded,” she said.
According to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Jubilee Party is going to be buried in Kiambaa by-elections and the party will be forgotten as if it never existed.
