Various political parties are lining up for the next general elections. Different parties are conducting party’s elections to determine who deserves presidential ticket.
According to emerging details, Deputy President William Ruto will not be freely given United Democratic Alliance presidential ticket if there will be other candidates who are interested in the party’s ticket.
According to UDA Secretary General veronica Maina, the ticket will not be a preserve of Ruto.
“Don’t be surprised to find there are other candidates who have expressed interest so that they can vie for presidential ticket, so the Deputy President will be open for the processes of the party,” Veronica stated.
Maina also defended Ruto’s association with the party. She said that the Jubilee party associates itself with the ODM party and therefore there is no difference when Ruto associates himself with UDA.
“The UDA party had a coalition with Jubilee Party. The agreement is still in existence to date. Even now, the Jubilee party associates itself with the ODM party. What is the difference when the DP associates himself with UDA?” Maina posed.
She also said they will field candidates in upcoming by-elections in preparation for 2022 as a way of UDA testing its muscles.
“We will make sure we field candidates in any by elections that is upcoming in preparation for 2022 because it is the only time UDA can test its muscles ,” she stated.
This comes few days after Deputy President publicly announced during a rally in West Pokot that he will vie on UDA ticket in the next general elections.
DP and his allies are expected to make a formal move to UDA, to strengthen it ahead of the next general elections.
Jubilee and Orange Democratic Movement are working on a coalition that will make them work together in the next general elecions.
