What would you do if the Chief’s office at your local called you to go pick up your death certificate?
You would rather die, huh, literally.
Well, some things happen and you are left wondering how realer or whack things can become sometime.
In a bizarre incident, the local government called a covid-19 survivor to go and pick his death certificate.
While lamenting about his weird situation, the survivor, Chandrashekhar Desai, who is a resident of Manpada, Thane in India narrated how the call from Thane Municipal Corporation on Tuesday has left him mentally disturbed.
According to Chandrashekhar Desai, he had tested positive for Covid 19 in August 2020 and was subsequently cured after receiving treatment at home. During his quarantine period, Desai had received a call once to enquire about his health.
Desai, a teacher at a Ghatkopar-based school, has alleged that he got a call from a woman, who identified herself as a worker from the health department of Thane Municipality, and said that she was calling to issue a death certificate of Chandrashekhar Desai.
Speaking to the Indian Express, Desai said that the caller later disconnected the line when she learnt that no one in that family named Chandrashekhar Desai had recently died.
“She told me that the TMC wanted to issue the death certificate of one. When I told her that she was speaking to Chandrashekhar Desai she was surprised and asked if anyone else in the family had died or been infected to Covid,” Desai said.
Desai would later take up the issue with covid war room of Thane Municipal Corporation. “I asked them the reason but they were not accepting their mistake and we’re just trying to shrug their responsibility saying the name was in the list of ICMR but my question is how can the name crop up in the ICMR list if it is not sent by the Corporation. Now they have promised me that they will take necessary steps to correct the error,” Desai said.
