Environmentalist Joanna Stutchbury was yesterday found dead in her car.
According to her neighbor, she had 4 bullet wounds and car’s engine was still running at the time of discovery.
On Friday morning, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the police to expedite their invesiagtion inot the murder and apprehend her killers.
“My government will pursue and apprehend the criminals behind the killing of Joanna. We will not allow a few misguided individuals to continue shedding the blood of innocent people working hard to make Kenya a better place for all of us,” President Uhuru assured.
Environmental Activist Stutchbury is known for her spirited fight to protect Kiambu forest from developers.
Stutchbury moved to Kiambu town some years ago because she was attracted by the forest lands.
She later led protests to protect the land from being grabbed by some wealthy business people.
“They have grabbed every available space, now they are turning to forests. What will they leave for our children,” Activist posed.
“The destruction is overwhelming. And it is not done by poor people but by wealthy people and those who are politically well connected in our society,” she added.
