Presidential aspirant Jimmy Wanjigy has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to join Orange Democratic Movement party ahead of the next general elections.
Wanjigi’s assertions come hot on the heels of the president meeting opposition leaders in State House Mombasa, led by ODM’s Raila Odinga.
Speaking at Ngong on Thursday, August 12, Wanjigi embraced the move by President Uhuru to support Raila’s Presidency.
“I have heard romours from the media that President Uhuru is supporting a Raila presidency, I welcome the move. In fact, the president should join ODM and campaign for Raila,” Wanjigi said.
The businessman also promised to trounce former Prime Minister who is yet to declear his bid at the party primaries. Wanjigi is also sure that ODM will conduct free and fair nominations dictated by justice.
“Although has not officially declared whether he will be vying for presidency and on which ticket I will defeat him in the party preliminaries. ODM is a party to watch because am certain that ODM will conduct free and fair nominations and allow justice to prevail,” Wanjigi said.
He also asserted that ODM party membership is expected to increase within the shortest time.
“Within the shortest time possible, we will increase our party membership from 2.6 million registered members to millions. Kenyans are ready for the leadership revolution this party will bring in the country,” he asserted.
The president on Tuesday held talks with Raila Odinga (ODM), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (Kanu) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) in what is seen as a way of uniting them in order to face Deputy President William Ruto.
