Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga is expected to invade Mt Kenya region as a way of marketing himself in the region. In the past years, the region has been hostile to the former Prime Minister.
According to Raila’s elder brother Oburu Odinga, there are efforts aimed at uniting Mt Kenya with Nyanza region.
“Now circumstances have changed and the government of the day is part of this movement to bring the Lake and the Mountain together. And as Jim Orengo said, when the mountain meets the lake, Kenya moves forward,” Oburu said while speaking in Kiambu on Thursday where Raila was hosted in Limuru at the home of the late Ngiyo Kariuki.
Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth who was also present, acknowledged Raila’s effort in bringing the devolution through the constitution.
“He has fought for the constitution and today, we have devolution. In BBI the biggest component is the increased allocation from national government to counties from 15 to 35 percent,” Kenneth stated.
Kenneth also mobilized the region to rally behind opposition leader with many speculating that president Uhuru has made a decision to support him.
“Uhuru wants us to work with Raila, why would you not support him? He posed.
According to The Star, Kikuyu Council of Elders will host Opposition leader and more than 100 Luo elders in Nyeri on August 28.
On October 10 2020, Raila hosted the Kikuyu elders at his Bondo home.
