Migori county Governor Okoth Obado has now defended Deputy President William Ruto’s Bottom-up Economic Model saying it is a multiplier effect.
Obado who was speaking on Sunday at Kamagambo Adventist College, said bottom up model will benefit many people and not individual.
“The bottom up model, those who have read some economics will agree, is a multiplier effect. Like if you have Sh1,000 and give it to an individual it will only benefit one person compared to a group which will create jobs,” Obado said.
South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro supported Obado saying those who oppose the model should give the alternative economic model.
“We need our rivals to give us alternative economic models instead of trivializing what others have proposed. Kenyans need a development model where money is invested in villages,” Osoro stated.
Governor Obado who hails from South Nyanza seems not to be in good political terms with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The second term governor was elected in 2013 on People’s Democratic Party before rejoining ODM in 2017. Governor Obado is showing indications that he might not work with Raila in the next general elections.
Speaking on August 13 during the burial of Mzee Ajwang’ ODM chairman John Mbadi characterized Obado as a traitor who are used to derail region and community agenda.
“We know there is somebody who wants to be treated as a demigod in Migori. We know they are traitors who are being used to derail the region and community agenda,” Mbadi said.
