Central Organization of Trade Unions Secretary General Francis Atwoli has opened up on how he came to Ruto’s aid after he decamped from Orange Democratic Movement.
COTU boss who was speaking on KBC TV, on August 26 said that he played a pivotal role in the formation of United Republican Party which was formed in January 2012 and was later dissolved to form the ruling Jubilee party.
Atwoli revealed that he hosted URP leaders in home severally.
“When he wanted to form his political party, URP, he used to get people like Washiali monitoring from my house which is in Western Province,” Atwoli said.
Atwoli said that the rivalry between him and the second in command is ideological and not personal.
“I don’t have a personal problem with Deputy President William Ruto, the problem that was there was because of my work back then at NSSF,” Atwoli said.
He also asserted that Ruto will not be elected in 2022 as the next president.
“Ruto will not be elected now, may be in the future and he will definitely, then want to review the constitution and its normal,” he asserted.
Atwoli said that he has no interest in becoming the president but to retire and be Sunday School teacher.
“I have no interest in running for presidency. I was to retire in 2011, but my colleagues refused,same in 2016and this year. This will be my last term then I retire. I will be a Sunday school teacher,” he asserted.
