Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, has rule out possibility of working with Deputy President William Ruto ahead of the next general elections because of assassination claims.
“How can I work with someone who once accused me of planning to kill him? That can never happen,” Munya asserted.
Munya was speaking over the weekend in Meru at the time when the debate on who should deputize Ruto rages on.
He said that given opportunity, he can deputize ODM leader Raila Odinga.
“If I’m offered the position of Raila’s running mate, I am okay with it,” declared Munya.
While continuing to reveal his next political move the CS said that he is hoping to be the next Meru county governor but only if things remain as they are now.
“For now I am eyeing the governor’s seat. But if national duty calls, I will not hesitate to go for it,” Munya said.
The event was also attended by Meru Governor, Kiraitu Murungi and Tharaka Nithi Governor, Muthomi Njuki.
As the 2022 presidential race gets hotter, the choice of running mates also intensifies. According to some political analysts, some political bigwigs including William Ruto are expected to choose their running mates from Central Kenya in order to win the votes from the region.
