Just hours after the arrest of former Former Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel in connection to the bandit attacks in Laikipia conservancy, Tiaty Mp William Kamket has been arrested at his Baringo home.
Latest reports show that Kamket has been taken in for questioning on the goings-on in the volatile Laikipia County skirmishes, which has been rocked by insecurity in the past few days.
Reports indicate that tension is now rife in the area as the skirmishes take a political angle.
Latest reports from Laikipia conservancy shows that at least eight people have been killed by bandits.
On Wednesday, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya said that the bandits had killed eight people including 5 civilians and 3 police officers.
“Civilians who have been injured with bullets are four while injured police officers are two,” he said.
Informing on the arson attack witnessed on Tuesday, Natembeya said that the police managed to put out the fire before it spread.
“No arson incident, injuries, displacements or deaths have been reported. We have also provided security to those leaving the area so that they are not harassed,” he said.
Natembeya further accused politicians of inciting and arming youths.
“We have received reports that some of the owners of the livestock are saying they remove them from the ranches and bring 500 Morans to fight with the security officers. This means that these are planned attacks to ensure the area has no peace,” Natembeya said.
