As 2022 general elections are approaching, there have been many questions about the deep state and its influence in the outcome of the elections. Kenyans are also asking themselves how this cabal is dangerous.
Former State House Comptroller Franklin Bett in an interview with the Star warned Deputy President William Ruto that he still does not have what it takes to beat the deep state. He also warned that this clandestine organization is dangerous to dare.
“The deep state is dangerous to play with, it has the machinery of state that it can put into play in defence of what it stands for,” former Bureti MP said.
He said that in 2002 the deep state was defeated since the people were not with it but this time it has the people.
“If you look at the Narc-Kanu contest and recall the whole country was singing away from Kanu, and if you ask me if this is the same scenario, my answer is no,” he said.
While still speaking about the same, he explained that people were not with the system because people were not happy with President Daniel Moi’s administration which is not the case now.
“This time, are the people sufficiently angered by the Uhuru administration that they are able to march forward? I think not,” Bett stated.
He also explained that the deep state has wide networks and which can be used for their interest.
“It will use its networks that run from the county commissioner all the way to the assistant chief at the sub location level to mobilize the public in their direct interest,” he said.
“The national government is part of the deep state,” he added.
However, according to Dr. Ruto, he is having the support of “God and millions of Kenyans”.
