Confessed serial killer Masten Wanjala on Thursday narrated how he managed to escape from Jogoo Road police station cell on Tuesday night moments before an irate mob lynched him.
The self-confessed child killer said before his death that he dressed as a petty offender before giving money to officers allow him to walk out on Tuesday.
He narrated the story to the mob in Kabuchai, Bungoma.
According to a police officer who addressed the mob, Wanjala was then offered a lift on a lorry to Bungoma not knowing the villagers were not ready to accommodate him.
“He however did not know they did not want him there,” he added.
Wanjala was expected in court on Thursday.
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had offered a reward of Ksh200, 000 to anyone with information that will lead to the arrest of Masten.
“Suspected child serial killer Masten Wanjala has escaped from Jogoo Road police station. I’m offering a reward of Kshs200, 000 to anyone who will give information that will lead to the arrest of this animal by the police,” he tweeted.
