A teen couple was on Monday night found brutally murdered in their house in Umoja II estate, Nairobi.
The man has been identified as Eric Maina, 18, but the woman is yet to be identified.
Police say the two were stabbed several times.
The woman’s body was found with her hands tied on the back and was near the one bedroomed house’s toilet with stab wounds in the abdomen, neck, breasts and legs.
The man’s body was found in the bedroom and had been stabbed on the neck and chest.
“The man was lying in the bedroom and had a deep cut on the neck and his hands were tied at the back. There was also a rope around his neck,” police said.
Both police and relatives said the two were last seen on Saturday, November 6.
“The house was locked from outside with a padlock and there was a sign of struggle in the sitting room, kitchen and bedroom,” police said.
Detectives said there were bloodstains on the floor between the bedroom and toilet
The man’s grandfather Caesar Mugambe said the son had been missing from Sunday and on Monday evening, there was a foul smell coming from house number 11 where Maina was staying with his unknown girlfriend.
“We tried reaching him on phone but his phone went unanswered. His sponsor Jean Joseph from Seychelles who was paying his rent but currently out of the country also called saying he could not reach him,” the grandfather said.
Buru Buru police commander Francis Kamau said they were yet to establish the motive of the murder and those behind it, adding that the attackers ransacked the house and also stole electronic items.
“We are investigating a pure murder where the bodies of a young man and his girlfriend were found with stab wounds in their house. No arrest so far,” he said.
He added they had established the killers escaped with a television set, mobile phones and two laptops among other valuables from the house. Police believe the move to steal the goods was out to distract the motive.
