DCI officers on Monday, November 15, arrested the man accused of organising the stoning of Deputy President William Ruto’s convoy in Kondele area of Kisumu City.
Wilson Aminda, an employee of the Kisumu County Government was nabbed by detectives while on duty.
Amanda faces accusations of leading a group of youths that stoned Ruto’s campaign caravan on Wednesday last week.
The arrest came days after thee police came under fire from the DP, who accused them of not doing their jobs properly.
Ruto expressed displeasure with investigative authorities after the National Police Service issued a statement that the violence in his rally was caused by internal conflict as his supporters fought over the distribution of mobilisation funds.
His handlers, however, insisted that the violence was organised and planned by his rivals.
Political leaders including Orange Democratic Movement (ODMM) party leader Raila Odinga, Amani National Congress Party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, condemned the attack on Ruto.
Last week, Odinga further denied any involvement in the fracas. Speaking during an interview with a local radio station, the former Premier refuted claims that he had sponsored the chaos distancing himself and his party from the incident.
“I am not a kid to go and organise people to throw stones at Ruto, why would I do that? Ruto is beneath me,” the ODM leader stated.
