The embattled former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko’s impeachment case has been refurbished after the High Court judge Chitembwa faulted the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for overruling on Sonko’s impeachment case.
According to the video that has gone viral on social media, Justice Chitembwa was secretly noted alleging that the former Nairobi boss Mike Sonko’s case was unconstitutionally overruled following his (Sonko) verbal brawl with the head of state president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Justice Saidi Chitembwa accused the Judicial Service Commission of corruption, gross misconduct and Judicial incompetence over governor Sonko’s case admitting that the judges were under duress and orders from the deep state to sabotage all plans that might serve Mike Sonko a greenlight to the victory of his case.
He confided that there was no public participation in the senate and the constitutional quorum in the Nairobi County Assembly was not attained.
“Governor Mike Sonko’s impeachment was illegal and unconstitutional since there was no public participation in the senate and Nairobi County Assembly didn’t attain the constitutional quorum to uphold the motion” Saidi Chitembwa argued
In November, 2021, governor Mike Sonko had filed a petition accusing High Court Judge Chitembwa of soliciting and receiving Ksh50M bribe to rule against him. In the petition he (Mike Sonko) had launched at the high court, contesting his impeachment in December 2020.
This emerges after governor Mike Sonko was unceremoniously purge out of the county’s top seat after the senate upheld his impeachment motion that was sponsored by Peter Imwatok (MCA, Matopeni).
Sonko’s plea to block Anne Kananu Mwenda from ascending to the gubernatorial seat hit a hard rock as the High Court quashed his petition to block Kananu’s swearing in procedures.
